IR-10-48 Second Amendment Firearms Expert Jackie Emslie
Second Amendment Advocate
NRA Certified Firearms Expert and Educator
Out of the 77,000 National Rifle Association (NRA) certified firearms trainers only 1,700 are women; so Angela McKenzie, a Peter Jennings Journalist Fellow for the United States Constitution traveled to Poughkeepsie, NY to track down one of them, in the person of JACKIE EMSLIE. Emslie became an active part of the Second Amendment community over two decades ago when her husband Scott - himself a master marksman, encouraged her to take a women's firearms course so that she could take possession of his guns if necessary. After that introduction Jackie never looked back and today she is a formidable sportswoman and instructor who specializes in teaching women and youth how to safely exercise and enjoy their Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms and who strongly encourages the NRA to diversify its' membership beyond the usual white, male, Republican base.
Emslie has won awards for her expertise including several from the NRA Foundation for service as a Grant Coordinator and the Sportsperson of the Year Award from Congresswoman Sue Kelly. Today's show will give listeners a close look at a woman who talks the talk and walks the walk of a devoted Second Amendment defender and practitioner.
Angela McKenzie is the Producer & Presenter of Initiative Radio
